Apologies for the delay in issuing a start list & race instructions. A start list is now available below – race instructions will follow shortly. And please note the following:
- Do to marshalling difficulties we have had to revise the run route. Rather than the traditional out & back along farm tracks the run route will now comprise 4 loops around the Duchess’s Community High School with a short section from transition to the start of the loop and then back again to the finish. The total distance is approximately 4.75km rather than the full 5km. The loop itself is on high quality smooth tarmac and is used by the local Harriers as a 1km test – it appears on Strava as the segment “The Duchess’s Lap”. So run times will be faster this year, the run will be more sociable and accessible for spectators, and a very much reduced risk of turning ankles. Standard run shoes recommended rather than trail shoes!
- In assigning start times we have followed the usual protocol of sending the slower swimmers off in the earlier waves, ensuring that all swimmers in a lane have comparable times, and that within a lane the faster swimmers start first. However there are some individual variations to this in an attempt to achieve the following:
- any entrants with a comparatively slower bike time have not been placed in the final wave so that they are not left out on the road on their own
- to give all swimmers sufficient time to complete their swim but still ensure that we get through the swim as quickly as possible so that the bike section takes place before road traffic gets busier, a pair of very much faster swimmers have been moved into a staggered 2nd wave
