Anyone with old bikes stashed away in the garage that they would consider selling?
Having now done Alnwick Tri twice on a mountain bike that weighs only slightly more than a mini cooper, I quite fancy buying something a little more nippy.

Hi Bec,
Not sure if you got my email or not. I have an old bike that I bought for Fran's first triathlon. It's a racer (of sorts) with 10 gears and would fit someone from about 5' 7" to 5' 11". It's probably a bit lighter than your previous bike but not much.
I don't want any money for it - I'd be happy to see it complete a couple more triathlons. If you want to take a look at it, let me know.
Cheers,

No, I didn't get your email. Thanks. Shall be in touch shortly.

Hi Andy
I was strongly advised to acquire a more modern bike for the Steel-man. Am asking my relatives for a forward on my birthday money and I'm going to bite the bullet and buy one. But a big thank you to you and Fran for letting me try your old one.
I hope the move went smoothly.

Bec,
Sounds like good advice to me! Hope you manage to find a more suitable bike and that the Steelman goes well.
The move went really well thanks. We managed to pack our entire wordly belongings into a van in less time than it took me to complete the run section of last years Steelman. But then that's not saying much....!

I'm sure that your run last year was probably faster than I'll manage tomorrow!
I'm glad that the move went well. And I ended up buying a bike, one that is much lighter and faster than my old one. Although I'm still looking at 3.5 to 4 hours to complete the bike leg, so I'll not be winning any prizes. But I shall be very happy just to complete it.
Thanks very much for all your help.
Bec
