Alnwick Tri 2010 – Marshals Needed!

The time has come when we are seeking marshals for the 2010 race!

If you or your family and friends would be able to spare a few hours on the morning of Sunday May 16th to help out please get in touch with Jo Gascoigne-Owens. We also need help the day before the race on Saturday 15th if that would suit anyone better.

All Alnwick Tri Club members who are racing will need to provide a marshal or help out themselves on the Saturday.

The more help we have the better the race will be! So if you or anyone you know would like to help out just have a word with Jo.

Thanks!

Frog Graham...

For those who like the open water ... Frog Graham. The idea comes from the Bob Graham Round of 40 or so lakeland peaks in 24 hours - but you swim as well.

There is a group from Tynedale who are planning an attempt for this summer, and any takers are very welcome. I\'m trying to get the date agreed, but it will be July I think.

Mike

PS. e-mail me for more information; I can\'t figure out how to post the PDF guidebook on the web site. The route is roughly...

Keswick Moot Hall
Skiddaw
Swim across Bassenthwaite
Grisedale Pike
Hopegill Head
Whiteless Pike
Swim across Crummock Water
Red Pike
High Stile
Swim across Buttermere
Robinson
Catbells
Swim across Derwentwater

April Fool Sea Swim

Since I have ventured so much as a toe into the water since our last swim on Boxing Day I think it might be time to brave the cold and start our sea swims up again.

Siobhan has been badgering me to do an April Fools swim which, if thee are any takers, will be at nine fifteen on Thursday the first. It will be COLD. Gloves and foot covers advised. Not for the faint-hearted.

Otherwise we intend to start the Saturday morning swims shortly after that. Please send me a text if you want to be included on this years swim group, and then you will be kept informed of swims by text.

Until the weather warms up the swims will be by arrangement only, so please don\'t turn up on a Saturday without checking that there is a swim taking place. I\'d hate for anyone to be left hanging around.

Winter Duathlon 1 2010

Oh the lack of bike training. It was windy but not that windy! There were some people suffering out there.

That aside, the race seemed to be more of tactics rather than all out speed. The top guys were all playing with eachother and Kev came out best.

Richard Agan ran his own race as it was his first Duathlon. He took it easy on the first run and then outran most people on the 2nd run to come in 2nd overall. There is definately more to come.

Issac Moss was on a mountain bike. Hopefully next time we will get him on a road bike and see what he can do.

Only 3 girls competed but Mary Plumley finished the race like a girl on a mission. If you go the the Alnwick tri facebook site, I have uploaded some photos and you can see how intense she was crossing the finish line.

Next race Sunday 7th March. Meet at 9am for a 9:30 start.
